Membership Categories

A. OPERATIONAL MEMBER: Shall be a fully Operational Firefighter who responds to calls, attends training, helps with fundraisers, and attends meetings. Operational Members shall meet the following qualifications and requirements:

1. Must be l8 years or older and not actively attending high school.
2. Must follow and operate under the Standard Operating Guidelines (SOGs) of the
Department.
3. Must maintain a minimum number of operational response and operational
training points as stated in Policy #: PL-O1 0 & PL-O11.
4. Must receive within 2 years of membership approved Firefighter 1 certification. If the
member is unable to do so, the Board of Directors can approve an extension.
5. Has one (l) vote at Company meetings.
6. Must have a valid Virginia Driver’s License.

B. ADMINISTRATIVE MEMBER: Shall be a member that attends meetings, helps with fundraising and events, and assists with the business of the Company. Administrative Members do not operate on calls or training.

Administrative Members shall meet the following qualifications and requirements:

l. Must be l8 years or older and not actively attending high school.
2. Must follow and operate under the Standard Operating Guidelines (SOGs), policies, and
bylaws of the department.
3. Must maintain administrative points as stated in Policy #: PL-O10 & PL-O11.
4. Has one (1) vote at Company meetings.

C. ASSOCIATE MEMBER: Shall be members with special abilities that can assist the department with fundraising, events, and department functions as needed. Associate Members shall meet the following qualifications and requirements:

l. Must be 18 years or older.
2. Does not have to earn any points.
3. May attend company meetings.
4. Will not be a functional firefighter in providing emergency services.
5. Has no voting rights.
6. Will be evaluated by the Board of Directors on an annual basis as to their effectiveness
to the department and determined if he or she should continue as a member.

Associate Member – does not have to earn any points

E. JUNIOR MEMBER: Shall be a Firefighter who responds to calls, attends training, helps with fundraisers, and attends meetings. Junior Members shall meet the following qualifications and requirements:

l. Must be l6 years or older and must not have reached their 18th birthday. Must provide
written consent from a parent or legal guardian to be a member.
2. Must be enrolled in high school and maintain “C” or better grades. This WILL be
evaluated by the Chief or his designee on a quarterly basis. If said member is not
maintaining “C” or better grades they will be suspended from all fire department
activities until grade level maintained at that level.
3. At any time, the Junior Member’s parent or legal guardian may request to the Chief
that they can be suspended from fire department activities.
4. Must follow and operate under the Standard Operating Guidelines (SOGs), policies,
and bylaws of the department.
5. At no time shall a Junior Member participate in any non-training type IDLH activities.
6. Must maintain administrative, operational response, and operational training hours as
stated in Policy #: PL-010 & PL-011.
7. Has no voting rights.
